Data Center Moratorium. Say no to data centers.

Tell Flock cameras to flock off!

Why are data centers bad?

There are several reasons to why data centers are an awful waste of resources, especially for AI. Water and heat pollution are the main environmental factors that need to be studied more, but they aren’t even close to the biggest problems.

Electricity and energy. The Vantage data center in Port Washington is expected to use 3.5 Gigawatts of power, which is enough to power 750,000 homes.

Surveillance architecture for our government and big tech. Flock ‘Safety’ Cameras are just one example. You’ll find these cameras on intersections up and down Taylor and Business Drive. They are real time tracking that makes a digital footprint of your vehicle, reading your license plate, stickers, dents, and even facial recognition of the driver. Supporters will tell you that they help catch criminals, which may be true, but why should everyday citizens give up their freedom?

This isn’t even just about Flock or Palantir, it’s all the big tech companies. Our 4th amendment rights are dead and non existent. Your phone, car, and smart TVs constantly record everything we say or do and is stored in a data farm. The 4th amendment should and does apply to private companies. We should not be coerced into digital surveillance and tracking for expected convenience. This needs to be solidified into your state constitution and violations should be met with prison time for corporate executives.
